Menstrual Cycle Magic (part 2)

Welcome to part 2 of my menstrual cycle magic series. If you haven't already done so I would recommend you go back and read part one which can be found Here

As we move on to look more closely at the next phase of the menstrual cycle I must give recognition and thanks to the lineage of women that have stirred up my passion for this subject with their wisdom and generous teachings. Miranda Grey and her beautiful book Red Moon, the teachers of Red School Alexandra Pope and Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer, social influencers such as Claire Baker and author Maisie Hill. These women are pioneers in bringing cycle awareness back to the forefront of women’s attention.

I am writing this as a short summary of the magic I have found through menstrual cycle awareness in the hope that it motivates you to take a look at this for yourself. I genuinely believe that the more women who remember their cyclic wisdom the better it will be for society as a whole. I say remember, because we have always known this but it just became buried within the patriarchal system we now live in.

Lets move into the ovulation phase of the cycle (usually between day 10-16 of the cycle but this varies for everyone) when we release an egg from the ovary to be fertilised (or not). This is our inner summer. The archetype for this phase is The Mother (the mother archetype is the queen of nature, care and support). The moon cycle phase is the full moon.

If we go back to science and nature, for the purposes of human evolution and reproduction it serves the human race for women to feel confident, vital, sensual and creative during ovulation. This helps her to attract a male to fertilise the egg and continue the progression of the human race. It's all human nature. You might notice during your inner summer that your skin is clear, your face may seem more symmetrical, you have more confidence and you feel communicative and more attentive towards family and your close community.

Your super power at this phase is your creativity and heightened communication skills. You may have more energy during this phase and feel more sociable, your libido may be higher. Now is the time to plan parties, gatherings and important conversations. Now is the time to co-create through magical collaborations. This inner summer phase carries a lot of the energy from the spring but with a little less turbulence and a little more descernment.

During  your inner summer it’s important not to over commit and burn out. You can ground yourself with calming tree oils such as cedarwood and use calming meditative practices to settle your excited mind. Or, you might want to release your energy through a high intensity work out or go for a run. You may also want to enhance your heightened sensuality using gorgeous feminine essential oils such as jasmine or rose.

Through tracking your cycle (being aware which day of your cycle you are on) you might begin to notice mid cycle that you enter this phase of high energy and enthusiasm. Through tracking over the course of a few months you may see a pattern and be able to plan your life activities to make the most of this phase.

Next time, we will look at the inner autumn phase and all its precious gifts.
